Petrochemicals make up the majority of man-made materials around us. From the basic chemical building blocks, to consumer products such as plastics, rubber, fertilizers, detergents, solvents, paints, dyes and textiles, the petrochemicals world is diverse and ubiquitous. Examples of key petrochemicals include everyday materials such as polymers or plastics, and more controversial products such as benzene, or gasoline blendstocks.Platts not only assesses the price of hundreds of petrochemicals, including more than a dozen types each of intermediates, olefins, polymers, solvents, aromatics and olefins in North America, Europe and Asia, but also covers news and supply and demand aspects of the sector. Petrochemicals are made from petroleum and natural gas, and are therefore the link between oil and energy commodities and to the consumer, industrial and construction markets.
