The bunker industry expects the marine fuel market to become more fragmented and complex after 2020 as stricter emission controls come into force, according to speakers at the S&P Global Platts Mediterranean Bunker Fuel Conference in Athens this week.

Major Japanese shipping companies Mitsui OSK Lines and NYK Line have reverted back to the traders participating in the companies' term tenders to supply bunker fuel for lifting from Singapore over Q1 2017 with counter prices, traders said Friday, adding that negotiations will now move into the second round.
